Mouth taping, a start to getting the sleep you need for the life you want
By Michael P. Sharp D.D.S. on August 01, 2016
Mouth Taping is a simple yet tremendously powerful tool that allows you to...
- Wake up feeling rested and alert
- Sleep through the night
- Reduce the amount of sleep you need
- Avoid hyperventilation
Why is nasal breathing important? Most oxygen absorption happens during exhalation. Nostrils are smaller than your mouth so it allows the oxygen to stay in the lungs longer. It also reduces the flow velocity which stimulates nasal receptors to open and allow nitric oxide to be released into our body. Nasal breathing also filters, warms and moistens the air as we inhale. Mouth breathing on the other hand, leads to a chronic state of hyperventilation and decreases the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the body.
Mouth Taping is the first step in diagnosing sleep apnea, airway obstruction treatment and/or putting an end to snoring and suffering!
