Restorative Dentistry in Portage and Kalamazoo
Restoring function and confidence to your smile.
Dental implants are titanium posts which serve as replacement tooth roots. The post is put in place by means of a simple surgery performed by Dr. Sharp. Once the post is in place, your bone tissue grows around it. This provides a stable environment for your custom replacement teeth (usually a porcelain crown or denture) to be fixed permanently.
Providing implants is one of the most rewarding aspects of restorative dentistry for our team. There’s nothing we love more than seeing our patients re-experience the ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently, almost as if they had never experienced tooth loss in the first place!
The best part? Dr. Sharp has the training and facilities to complete your entire implant placement right in our office. He places standard implants as well as All-on-4® and Sharp Smile Today (our highly esthetic immediate-load technique).
Say “goodbye!” to dental anxiety.
We’re here to show you that dental visits really can be enjoyable, even if you have experienced phobias or fears in the past.
Oral conscious sedation involves taking a couple of pills administered by our team about an hour prior to your appointment. Oral conscious sedation will put you in a relaxed state through the treatment. During the appointment, you might sleep, or be in a dream-like state, but will be fully able to answer questions and respond to prompts given by our team.
Don’t live another day in pain.
Having a healthy bite ensures your smile looks its best for years to come. It also preserves the health of your Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) and prevents muscle and headaches.
The TMJ is the joint that connects your lower jaw to your skull. It allows you to move your jaw in many directions, talk, bite, and chew. When the TMJ comes out of alignment, it causes problems because it will constantly be trying to recover its proper position. These problems are referred to as TMJ Disorder, and may include:
- Clicking and popping in the joint
- Persistent headaches and migraines
- Tooth clenching and grinding
- Limited movement of the jaw
- Inability to fit the teeth together in a relaxed position
Dr. Sharp has advanced training and decades of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ Disorder. He is a member of the Piper Study Club and leads the Sharp Study Club of Southwest Michigan. With the technology of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Dr. Sharp can see what's going on inside the complex hinge called the TMJ that eliminates guess work or exploratory surgery. He can help you with a treatment plan to reduce or eliminate your TMJ pain and symptoms.
