When you are asleep the soft tissues in your mouth and throat relax and your airway is smaller. The smaller passageway causes your soft palate and uvula to vibrate. The sound this makes is called snoring.
Snoring can aggravated by several factors including sedatives, alcohol use and excess body weight. When the obstruction is severe or life-threatening, such as with Obstructive Sleep Apnea, surgery and other drastic measures may be needed. However with mild obstructions an effective solution is often an oral snore preventative device, such as the Thera-Snore.
The Thera-Snore works by opening up the passageway and allowing air to move freely while you sleep. This promotes deeper and more restful sleep.
