The Latest Technology for Lasting, Lifelike Dental Crowns
With the best quality materials and advanced technology, our crowns are as strong as they are beautiful. Dr. Michael Sharp will carefully design your crown using digital x-rays and other advanced technology. In most cases, we can provide same-day crowns with our state-of-the-art CEREC® system. We pay close attention to aesthetics, and will custom stain your crown to match your smile. At Sharp Smile Center, we can restore both the form and function of your smile with exceptional dental crowns at our office serving Portage, MI, and Kalamazoo, MI.
Is a Crown Right for You?
Thanks to their versatility and durability, crowns can often repair even severely damaged teeth, preventing the need for extraction. This restorative procedure may be the right solution for you, if you are suffering from a range of concerns, including:
- A cracked, broken or otherwise weakened tooth
- A large cavity that is too extensive for other restorations
- A worn tooth, especially one that affects the force of your bite
- A misshapen or disproportionately small tooth
- Severe cosmetic issues, such as dramatic internal staining
- A dental infection, that requires structural repair after root canal therapy
- A missing tooth that you have chosen to replace with an implant-supported crown
Advanced Technology for Quick, Effective Treatment
Sharp Smile Center has proudly been a paperless office since 2000. We use all-digital technology to make your treatment much more accurate and efficient. Before providing a dental crown, we will take digital x-rays of your tooth. If we determine that a crown is appropriate we will prepare your tooth using advanced techniques and tools for minimal discomfort.
We use only top-quality porcelain, and we custom design and stain every restoration.
Our office also uses the advanced CEREC® system. Using this innovative technology, we can often provide convenient same-day crowns. If you receive a same-day restoration, we will use our CEREC® system to take digital impressions of your teeth. These models will be more precise than manual impressions, and we use them to custom design your highly specialized crown. Your designs are then sent directly to our on-site milling machine. The device will carve a quality, lifelike crown from a solid piece of porcelain, usually in an hour or less.
Though other practices offer same-day restorations, not all CEREC® crowns are equal. We use only top-quality porcelain, and we custom design and stain every restoration to blend seamlessly with your smile. Our crowns are also three to four times stronger than standard CEREC® restorations.
Attaching Your Crown
Once your crown has been fabricated, we will attach it to your tooth with composite resin or cement. The material will match the color of your smile and your restoration. Our office also uses an advanced plasma arc curing light to harden the bonding materials. This is one of the strongest curing lights available, and it can help to ensure durable treatment results.
If you have received multiple crowns, or if you have undergone full mouth reconstruction, we will examine your teeth with our computerized bite analyzer. This system takes a video of you while you bite and chew. With this footage, we can make sure that your bite is properly balanced and that there is no undue pressure on your jaw. Though rarely needed, we can make adjustments to your restorations. Thanks to our level of care, we can protect both your appearance and your overall oral health.
