Mini dental implants are a recent dental innovation. Because they are smaller and easier to place they are much less expensive than regular dental implants. However they are not as strong. They aren't strong enough, for example, to support crown and bridge work. However, they are strong enough to stabilize a denture.

Here is a photograph of a standard implant, on the left, next to a mini implant. The smaller diameter makes them much simpler to place. No surgical flap is required, and the healing time is much shorter. All of these make them a more affordable dental implants option.

Mini implants are a compromise treatment and are not the ideal. That being said, Dr. Sharp understands that conventional dental implants are very expensive and not an option for everyone. Mini implants may be better than other alternatives. Dr. Sharp will be happy to discuss all available options with you.
